How do I know if my chimney needs repointing?
Look for crumbling, cracked, or missing mortar between the bricks. If you can scrape mortar out with your finger, it needs repointing. Other signs include damp patches on internal chimney breast walls and loose bricks.
Can you replace chimney flashing?
Yes. We specialise in lead flashing renewal. We remove the old flashing, chase new lead into the mortar joints, dress it properly over the tiles, and point it in with a flexible sealant for a permanently watertight finish.
Should I cap my unused chimney?
Yes. Capping an unused chimney prevents rain, birds, and cold air from entering while still allowing some ventilation to prevent condensation. We fit ventilated flue caps or half-round ridge tiles depending on the chimney design.
